Spectacular landscapes can be enjoyed along the full length of the route; the mountains of Guara and the Pyrenees stand proud and tall and the district of Somontano de Barbastro is shown in its entirety. Various signposts along the way provide a clear indication of the route, considered to be one of the most emblematic walks of the area.

The route starts in the village of Pedruel - it is advisable to park your car near the River Alcanadre.
As you enter the village and pass the parish church, take the first street on the right where you will find the start of this well marked route. The path climbs steadily up the eastern slope of the Arangol mountain range, which is covered in a deep thicket of juniper and holm oaks. Before long you will reach a ridge that is home to the so-called Cuello evergreen oak and from here continue along the trail towards the Mallata Reguero, which is situated at the end of a valley. The path continues to climb until it reaches the Mallata Cuna, a beautiful spot that overlooks the Guara peak, the Alcanadre canyon and the Tozal de Cubillas.
You will soon arrive at the Mallata las Cabras and will notice that the landscapes are becoming grander and more dramatic the higher you climb. From this particular peak, the deep canyons of Gorgas Negras and Barrasil open up below you. Also noticeable are the ridged layers of the south face of the Lupera Mountains, which are a magnificent example of this type of layered geographical formation.
Still climbing, the path is bordered on the right by a fence belonging to the Bastaras Hunting Reserve. After crossing a stretch of path that sits between the wires of this fence and the edge of the precipice, there only remains the final section of the route to reach the peak of Guara. From a height of 1,870 metres, the panoramic view is undoubtedly one of the best in Somontano. Your efforts to reach the top are rewarded with an unsurpassed perspective of the whole area including: the canyons of Gorgas Negras and Mascún; the Barrasil straits; the mountain ranges of Sevil and Balced; the peaks of the Pyrenees; the plains of Cupierlo and the Huesca foothills.
Nearby, the chasm of La Grallera Alta lays hidden. It is one of the deepest chasms in the world and highlights the karstic nature of these mountains.
