The starting point for the route can be found on the path next to the municipal swimming pools of Alquézar. Following this signed footpath you will arrive at the San Gregorio chapel, and from this delightful spot will be able to enjoy an excellent panoramic view of Alquézar and the River Vero canyon. Leaving the chapel, take the path which heads north in the direction of the small hamlet of San Pelegrín. Here, the traditional stone architecture of the buildings is particularly interesting; most structures being simple in design and in excellent condition.

Cross the village through the church square to continue along the path. As the track gradually climbs, you will enter into a dense grove of pine and oak, which is still recuperating from a fire that took place there several decades ago.

After approximately 3 hours of walking along the steadily ascending path, you will arrive at the Mesón de Sevil (Inn of Sevil.) This old country house operated as a guesthouse and eating place over many centuries, and would have been a welcome sight to the travelling shepherds and muleteers of old, on their long journeys through the mountains.

From the old inn it is possible to get closer to the Mallata de la Iglesieta (30 minutes each way). This spot affords splendid views of the striking cliffs of the Balced canyon: one of the most magnificent enclaves in the whole of the Guara mountain range. It is also worth visiting the old ice wells known as the Pozo d'a Creu and the Pozo de los Dineretes, which are located in the same area.

Leaving the Mesón de Sevil, the return journey can be made along an alternative footpath, which crosses the Tito mountain range. Along the way it is possible to visit the site of the Campoluengo ice well. The path also passes close to the rock shelters of Chimiachas and Quizans, which are home to a number of mysterious prehistoric paintings. Passing by the pools of Basacol and taking the turn-off towards the Payuala ravine, you will arrive once again in Alquézar.
