These include; the Santa Columba church and the Museum of Guadamacil Art in Asque; the Villacantal and Fuentebaños bridges; viewpoints overlooking the River Vero and Alquézar; and the remains of an old mill. These features are set against the spectacular landscapes of the eastern sector of the Guara mountain range.

The departure point for this circular route is the parish church of San Miguel in Alquézar. Once on the clearly marked “Camino de Abajo” (low path) follow the footpath that descends towards the Fuentebaños bridge, taking in the magnificent views of the River Vero canyon as you go.

Cross the late-medieval bridge to the far banks of the river and take the path that heads towards Asque. After walking for about 3km, you will enter deep Mediterranean thickets dominated by holm and kermes oak.

The centre of Asque is home to the church of Santa Columba and the Museum of Guadamacil Art. A visit to the Devil's Bridge, wedged across the Fornocal ravine on the outskirts of town, is also highly recommended. A detour of approximately ten minutes will bring you to this small bridge, which was originally built to provide communication between Asque and Colungo.

Back in the centre of Asque, take the wide dirt track that heads towards the bottom of the Vero ravine. A clear sign marks the starting point of a new path, which runs along the bed of the Lumos gully before arriving at the Villacantal bridge.

This narrow bridge will take you to the far bank of the river, where you will start to climb the opposite slope of the ravine. This section of the path boasts an impressive panoramic view of the canyon and the blue waters of the River Vero. Once at the top of the slope, you will find yourself on the San Lucas ridge, and from here you will enter the final stage of the walk bringing you back to Alquézar town centre.
