Just walking in this environment is a pleasure; enjoy this simple route by the banks of the river, which is suitable for all the family. The itinerary will take you to the remains of an old tile works, past the ruins of an ancient bridge and will allow you watch the energetic weaving of the white wagtail and the vibrant colours of the hoopoe and the chaffinch.
Be prepared to be immersed in a world of sensations that will awaken your senses:
Sight: The elegant grey heron landing in the river, the surprising transformation of the frogs, the vivid autumn colours…
Smell: The fragrance of the riverside woods, the first flowers in the month of March, the dry leaves in autumn…
Sound: The melodious song of the blackbird, the tireless flow of the water, the croak of dozens of frogs in spring…
Feel: the coarseness of tree trunks, cold, invigorating water, spongy moss…
From the moment you start walking, hundreds of living creatures will accompany you; butterflies such as the Spanish Purple Hairstreak (Laeosopis roboris), bee-eaters, blackbirds, griffon vultures, red kites and even wild boar and foxes. Riverside plants include the poplar, tamarisk and willow. Depending upon the season, the birdlife is undoubtedly one of the main attractions of the route; take out your binoculars and wait in silence. The wait will be worth it.
Remember that plants, animals and humans form a unique ecosystem and the well-being of all depends upon its balance.
